BREAKING NEWS: Strictly Come Dancing fans make ‘weird’ host observation after huge change to show
Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe have replaced Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as hosts
Strictly Come Dancing fans have said the same thing after the show’s three new hosts made their debut on Satuday night.
The series has only just begun, but Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to issue their snap verdict on the show’s new hosts – Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.
Fans of the hit BBC One dance contest have been waiting months to see Strictly’s first-ever hosting trio appear in the famous ballroom for the first time after they were announced as former hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s replacements earlier this year.
As viewers know, there was widespread shock back in October when Tess and Claudia announced their plans to leave after 14 years at the helm together, with Tess hosting the show from the beginning in 2004, then with Sir Bruce Forsyth.
It was then, in December, that they were seen hosting Strictly live for the last time as the 2025 series drew to an emotional close, during which they crowned former footballer Karen Carney and professional dancer Carlos Gu the Strictly 2025 champions.
And after months of speculation as to who would be replacing them, and with many names in the frame, it was in May that it was confirmed that presenter Emma, comedian Josh and professional dancer Johannes would become Strictly’s new hosts, marking the first time there have ever been three people at the helm.
The launch show opened with a dance number from the professionals, judges and Emma, Josh and Johannes, before it was time for this year’s 15 stars to meet their partners for the first time on the dancefloor, rather than during a pre-recorded video seen in previous years of Strictly.

As the show, which was pre-recorded earlier this month, got underway on Saturday night (September 19), it didn’t take long for Strictly fans to share their comments about the new hosts on social media.
While viewers were full of praise for the new presenters, many did take to social media to say it felt ‘weird’ seeing the three new hosts on the show.
Writing on X, @LelJoyce said: “Finding the three presenters thing a little weird but we’ll see how it goes”, while @NordicLaura added: “3 presenters seems a bit weird.”
Another, @eadie500, added: “Three is just weird … we shall see”, with @MissAsh_13 adding: “Having 3 presenters is just weird not sure it’s going to work.”
