She told viewers: “We have laughed together, we have cried together with beautiful stories, sang together with some people, danced together, celebrated and competed together. I’ve lost, alone, a lot.

“We created a community and supported each other through a lot of ups and downs – a lot of ups and downs personally as well.”

When she didn’t elaborate on her personal struggles, the studio audience hesitated to react to her comment.

“He’s going to go in there with the mindset of, ‘I can win this job. I was the 15th pick in the draft in 22, this guy was the last guy taken in 23. This guy is in the right place at the right time, running Kyle Shanahan’s offense.’”

Florio explained that if Jones can demonstrate a grasp of the offense after signing with the 49ers, the quarterback truly believes he has the talent to take over for Purdy as the starter.

NBC Sports Boston’s Michael Holley pushed back on the idea of Jones taking over the job from Purdy, noting that Jones’ track record suggests more negative results than positive ones.
