Princess Anne will reportedly follow in her late mother’s footsteps and carry out royal duties “until a very old age”, a former royal butler has said. While he did not work directly for Anne, former royal butler Grant Harrold spent a lot of time with the royals between 2004 and 2011.
This is because Grant was a royal butler for King Charles, who was The Prince of Wales at the time, which meant he got to know the royals well. While he knows the King more than any other member of the family, Grant also got to see Princess Anne and her hard-working royal ways. Often referred to as the hardest-working royal, The Princess Royal is known to impress many people that she meets.
While she is now 75, Anne shows no signs of stepping down, and instead seems to have stepped up royal duties over the last few years to support her brother King Charles.
Speaking about when she may retire, Harrold said that he thinks Anne will follow in Queen Elizabeth II’s footsteps and carry out royal duty for as long as possible.
Speaking to OLBG, Harrold said: “I don’t really see any sign of Princess Anne slowing down her royal duties; she is a workaholic.
“If you look over the past couple of years, she hasn’t stopped.”

He continued: “Instead, she seems to be stepping up for her brother and taking on more responsibilities while he focuses on other things.
“She has always been very detail-oriented, like her mother, Queen Elizabeth. I truly think she will continue working like her mother up until a very old age.”
When asked by PA once about whether she would ever retire, Anne said: “said: “It isn’t really an option. It really isn’t written in, no. It isn’t really an option, no, I don’t think so.”
She then said about taking each day as it comes, showing a similar attitude to that of her late mother and her older brother.
