King Charles’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk has landed itself in hot water after it hosted a fire pit, despite an urgent warning advising people to avoid them. Wild Ken nature reserve, located close by, recently requested that all types of fire be banned due to the “extremely high” risk of wildfire.
Disasters have been sweeping across Europe and have also hit the UK due to the extremely high temperatures. This June broke the record for the hottest ever in the UK, and the scorching conditions have left the ground “tinder dry”, making it highly susceptible to fires.

Despite the risks and warnings being issued, not everyone seems to be following the advice.
A video posted on the Sandringham estate’s Instagram showed a large fire with marshmallows grilling on top.
It was shared in a promotional Facebook post to attract visitors, reports Hello Magazine.
The caption reads: “This summer, spend time together exploring beautiful gardens, discovering Sandringham House, enjoying family activities, and relaxing with live music in the Courtyard.”
Officials issued fire preventive measures on July 17, urging people to take all litter home, including glass, which can “magnify the sun and start a fire”.

The use of disposable barbecues and campfires was advised against by the Sandringham estate, with the rule extended to locals. The use of vapes and cigarettes is also forbidden in the area.
Despite the clip of the fire pit, the estate’s Instagram account also emphasised the fire warning advice the following day.
It informed people to “dispose of cigarettes responsibly” and “bring a picnic, not a BBQ”.
