According to recent reports, Harry and Meghan are exploring the possibility of spending increased time in Europe, potentially using their holiday home in Portugal as a base for regular visits to the UK. Speaking on TalkTV, presenter Jeremy Kyle criticised the reported plans, arguing that the Sussexes’ actions contradict many of the concerns they have publicly expressed over recent years.
Kyle accused the couple of benefiting from royal connections while simultaneously distancing themselves from the institution they once criticised.
“It is complete hypocrisy by both of them,” he said.
He went on to compare Harry and Meghan to p0liticians, suggesting they were trying to present different messages depending on the audience.
“A bit like p0liticians, do they not realise that the British public—the silent majority—already has an opinion of them that frankly isn’t going to change?” he added.
His remarks were echoed by royal commentator Dickie Arbiter, who questioned whether the Sussexes were attempting to enjoy the advantages of royal status without accepting the responsibilities that come with it.
Arbiter suggested that the couple appeared to want “the best of both worlds,” pointing to ongoing public debates surrounding Archie and Lilibet’s prince and princess titles.
The criticism reflects a wider discussion that has followed Harry and Meghan since they stepped down as senior working royals more than five years ago.
After relocating to California, the couple signed several high-profile commercial agreements, including major partnerships with Netflix and Spotify, while also launching charitable initiatives through their Archewell Foundation.
