BREAKING NEWS: GMB viewers switch off just minutes into heated clash: ‘Worst ever’
ITV viewers were left unimpressed as a former Chancellor returned to Good Morning Britain.

On Wednesday (July 29), ITV’s hit breakfast programme Good Morning Britain returned with presenters Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway discussing the latest headlines and shake-ups in Government strategy. The co-hosts were joined by panellists, political journalist Kevin Maguire and former Conservative Party Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, to discuss the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham’s recently announced plans for social care reform in England.
After the UK leader stated that he wants “substantial change” to the system that supports older people and working-age adults with disabilities, Kevin and Kwasi’s ideas for implementing the changes took a heated turn. Despite their clash, viewers were left furious by Kwasi’s addition to the panel as one fumed: “#gmb We are not paying for electric to listen to the views of Britain’s worst ever Chancellor, have turned off as we do every time he is on, hopefully others on here do the same.” As another echoed: “For some reason, we keep putting Kwasi Kwarteng on to discuss government policy after he managed to crash the UK economy with Liz Truss, which caused chaos for millions.”

A third viewer questioned: “Why is a failed Chancellor of the Exchequer on giving advice on what should be done after the state he put this country in ??????”
“GMB needs to get rid of Kwasi; he’s infuriating, just constantly talking while others are trying to make their point, plus I’m sick of seeing him laughing about crashing the economy,” demanded a fourth.
As another fumed: “Why does Good Morning Britain keep inviting Kwasi Kwarteng on? He constantly talks over other people so you can’t hear what they are trying to say. Rude and disrespectful.”
During the discussion, Kevin highlighted: “What’s brutal is people not getting care, not being able to afford care, or spending all their life savings or selling the home they have. The current system is brutal.”
As he continued: “Coming up with an answer isn’t brutal,” Kwasi interjected: “What’s the 10% tax on everyone?”

Refusing to be interrupted, the journalist went on: “There is this idea around that the one way of funding it isn’t national insurance now or income tax. It is, when you die and you’re dead in the ground or your ashes, whatever you leave … shrouds have no pockets, you can’t take them with you.”
However, the former chancellor was instant on clashing, as he retorted: “No, no, no. You paid all your taxes. So you just tax them?”
As Kevin hit back: “She [his mother] would also say cemeteries are full of rich people,” Kwasi argued: “Yeah but they pass the money on to their kids and you want to take it away.”
While Richard suggested: “But you’ll only take away 10% of it,” Kevin highlighted: “That’s not the government proposal, it’s one way of funding social care when you’re alive, so you’re looked after, and you can still leave something for your family.”
