BREAKING NEWS: Harry and Meghan now ‘starting to question’ UK move

A royal source has said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have started to question their move to the UK after they were informed by the palace that their positions within the Royal Family would not change. The pair were informed by King Charles III that they will remain non-working members of the family. The decision was made clear in a letter to Government officials, the military and Lord Lieutenancies from the monarch “to help avoid doubt or confusion”.
The couple shocked the world when they decided to move back to the UK in August after six years in California, having quit royal duties back in 2020. They have both since spoken openly about their life as royals and have faced criticism for sharing private details of their time in the Royal Family. A rift has since formed between Harry and William, with whom he used to be incredibly close. An insider now says that Harry and Meghan are questioning their UK move, as William allegedly urged the King to reaffirm the couple’s status as non-working royals.
Sources told Royal commentator Rob Shuter that William pushed the King to clarify Harry and Meghan’s status. “William had had enough of the confusion,” they said.
“Lord Lieutenancies were asking how Harry and Meghan should be treated. William’s answer was brutally simple: nothing has changed. They are out.”
The source went on to say that Harry and Meghan’s team received the message shortly before it was revealed to the public, and that there was “no negotiation”.
The insider revealed that the couple are now “starting to question whether this return can work”. They added: “William can close doors faster than they expected. William has won, for now.”
Concerns were previously raised that Harry and Meghan could make a bid for a royal return amid their move back to the UK. The couple have not disclosed their reasons for moving back to Harry’s home country, but it is understood that they are living in the Cotswolds and that their children are enrolled in a prestigious prep school there.
In the King’s letter, it was revealed that there is “no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex”.
“Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used,” the letter reads. “The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.
“Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities.”
