Beloved Hollywood actress D!es after family remove her from life support

Spiderman: No Way Home actress Mary Rivera has sadly died after suffering a stroke. The actress, 82, was best known for playing Ned Leeds’ grandmother in the Marvel superhero movie, and was left in a coma after her stroke, with her family forced to make the devastating decision to remove her from life support after doctors warned them the prognosis was “not good”.
She died in April 2026 in Honolulu, Hawaii, but news of her death has only just been made public. TMZ reports she was cremated, with a family member telling the publication she “lived a good life” and was “extremely proud” of her role in the blockbuster movie, after her family encouraged her to audition.
She starred alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire also making appearances.
Mary is survived by her husband Alejandro, her children, and 11 grandchildren. She also had four great-grandchildren.
Tributes have flooded in for the star, with one writing on her obituary page: “Tita Mary, as my mentor and colleague, you will be missed tremendously. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies go out to the Rivera family during this difficult time.”

Somebody else said: “Love you, miss you Nanay. My memories with you are vast and long, beginning with you telling me to say: ‘Biva Marcos Lopez’ as a toddler, to three generations taking Cover Look photos, to saying goodbye. Imagining you watching us.”
A third tweeted: “Goodbye, Ned’s Lola. Although her screen time was brief, her warm and hilarious performance – especially her unforgettable scenes with Ned, MJ, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men – made her one of the movie’s most memorable characters.”
