Prince Harry’s Reported Apology Demand Hits a Wall as Expert Warns ‘None Will Be Forthcoming’
Prince Harry’s reported hope of receiving an apology from the Royal Family has been dealt a serious setback, with royal expert Robert Hardman predicting that King Charles and Prince William will offer no such gesture.
Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly returned to Britain this week with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, establishing a new base in the Cotswolds and enrolling their children at a local school.
Their arrival has fuelled speculation that the Sussexes want to repair their damaged relationship with the monarchy, particularly with Charles.
However, claims that Harry remains angry about the treatment he and Meghan received suggest their return may not immediately produce the reconciliation many had anticipated.
Friends allegedly expected ‘contrition’
An unnamed source described as close to the Sussexes claimed that friends who had recently spoken with Harry expected to hear a more conciliatory message.
Instead, they were reportedly surprised to discover that the duke still believed the Royal Family owed him an apology.
“Friends who caught up with Harry were expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility,” the source claimed.
“Instead, there will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact. He is still in that Oprah mindset.”
The insider alleged that Harry remains frustrated with members of his family and the palace officials he once described as the “men in grey suits”.
“They were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family, is still frustrated by the ‘men in grey suits’ who surround his father, and still expects an apology,” the source added.
Harry has not personally confirmed the anonymous account, and no formal request for an apology has been publicly issued since his return.
‘It’s like Groundhog Day’
Discussing the claims on GB News, presenter Camilla Tominey suggested the same unresolved grievances were once again dominating the conversation.
“It seems that some of the same old tunes are being played in a rented property somewhere, possibly in the Cotswolds,” she said.
“It’s like Groundhog Day, isn’t it?”
Tominey also referred to previous reports that Harry had promised not to disclose further family secrets and asked whether Charles, Queen Camilla, William or Kate had any reason to apologise.
Hardman’s response offered little encouragement to the duke.
“No, I don’t think any apologies will be forthcoming,” he said.
The royal author believes Harry and Meghan’s return indicates that they may be seeking some form of “rapprochement” or bridge-building with the family.
He suggested that progress with Charles was more plausible than reconciliation with William, although neither outcome has been officially confirmed.
Harry warned not to reopen old wounds
Hardman said the reported expectation of an apology could undermine Harry’s chances of rebuilding regular contact with his father.
“That’s not going to happen if Harry wants to start reopening old wounds,” he warned.
The expert argued that Harry would need to move beyond the events that caused the family dispute if he wanted more frequent conversations and meetings with Charles.
“If he wants to start having regular chats and meetings and seeing more of his father, then the couple have to move on,” Hardman said.
“We can’t start unpicking the events of seven years ago.”
There has been no confirmation that William is preparing to meet Harry, and the brothers are still understood to have little contact.
Harry’s return may have removed the geographical distance between them, but the underlying disagreements remain unresolved.
If no apology is forthcoming, the duke could be forced to choose between continuing to pursue acknowledgement of past grievances or accepting a more limited reconciliation that requires both sides to leave those arguments behind.
