King Charles has issued a deeply personal message after devastating wildfires caused widespread destruction across parts of the UK and Europe.
The 77-year-old monarch said he and Queen Camilla had been “appalled” by the damage caused by the fires, which have affected homes, livelihoods and landscapes during a summer of extreme heat and drought.
The message was shared through the Royal Family’s official Instagram account, with Charles paying tribute to emergency crews, volunteers and communities dealing with the aftermath.
“My wife and I have been appalled by the devastating impact of wildfires this summer and the terrible destruction they have caused to homes, livelihoods and landscapes,” the King wrote.
He referred specifically to damage in the Cairngorms while also acknowledging similar scenes elsewhere in Britain and across Europe.
King Praises Those Battling the Fires
Charles used his message to thank those who had worked in dangerous conditions to bring the fires under control.
“I can only express my admiration and appreciation to all those who have worked so tirelessly and courageously, in the U.K. and beyond, to bring these fires under control,” he said.
The King also recognised those continuing to support affected communities during what he described as a “long road to restoration and renewal”.
His words acknowledged that although some of the immediate danger may have passed, the impact of the fires will continue to be felt by families and communities rebuilding damaged areas.
