Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced a fresh call to be stripped of their royal titles less than 24 hours after returning to Britain with their two children.
TalkTV commentator Samara Gill delivered the uncompromising verdict during the latest episode of The Royals Uncensored, which was subsequently promoted on X by Piers Morgan.
The discussion centred on Prince William’s continuing reluctance to repair his relationship with Harry and whether he was approaching the family dispute as a protective brother or a future sovereign.
Asked about William’s refusal to simply “forgive and forget”, Samara argued that the Prince of Wales was right to remain cautious.
“I think that Harry and Meghan are not good for the royal brand,” she said. “All they’ve done is trash it. And to be honest, letting them back in will just make the King look weak.”
Commentator urges William to take drastic action
Host Jo Elvin then asked whether Samara believed William would eventually remove the Sussexes’ titles as a way of ending their formal connection to the monarchy.
“Are you actually thinking that William will strip them of their titles, and that’s how we exit them from the royal family and stop them being part of this equation?” Jo asked.
“Absolutely,” Samara replied.
There is currently no indication that William or Buckingham Palace is preparing to take such action. The comments represented Samara’s personal opinion rather than an official proposal from the royal family.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton nevertheless suggested that the argument could fit with the idea of creating a smaller monarchy.
“Well, I’ve thought for a long time that they wouldn’t strip them of their titles,” Morton said.
“But if you’re looking for a stripped-down monarchy, then it makes logical sense to strip them of their titles.”
Morton argued that the same approach could potentially apply to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Under that model, the future monarchy would be built around William, Catherine and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
His comments did not amount to a prediction that the Sussexes would definitely lose their titles. Instead, he presented the idea as one possible consequence of limiting the monarchy to its most senior members.
Sussexes begin new chapter in Britain
The heated discussion aired one day after Harry and Meghan’s highly publicised return to the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday, August 26, aboard a private jet with Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.
Their precise destination has not been disclosed, but the family is expected to stay in a privately owned residence rather than a royal property.
Reports claim Archie and Lilibet will attend schools in Britain during the Sussexes’ extended stay.
Speculation has also intensified that the family could settle in the Cotswolds, an affluent region already associated with high-profile residents including the Beckhams and Kate Moss. However, no address or permanent living arrangement has been confirmed.
Security decision remains unresolved
One of the most significant unanswered questions concerns the protection Harry, Meghan and their children will receive while living in Britain.
It remains unclear whether the Sussex family will be granted taxpayer-funded police security.
The Home Office is reportedly “actively assessing” Harry’s circumstances again following his previous requests for greater protection.
“Officials have been asked to make a new assessment now that the family in question have chosen to reside in the UK,” a Government source said. “Any recommendations will be made in due course.”
For now, no official decision has been announced regarding either security or the Sussexes’ titles.
Yet their return has immediately revived both controversies, placing their relationship with William and the future shape of the monarchy back under intense scrutiny.
