BREAKING: Prince Harry and Meghan torn apart after b0mbshell reaction to King Charles ‘exposed’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under fresh scrutiny after a TalkTV presenter claimed the couple “went ballistic” over a letter clarifying their position within the Royal Family.
Harry and Meghan returned to the UK around three weeks ago with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but their status following the move has remained a major talking point.
A letter sent on behalf of King Charles reportedly made clear that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would remain non-working royals and would not carry out official engagements representing the monarchy.
The correspondence, sent by royal aide Lord Benyon, also stated that Harry and Meghan should not use their HRH styles and that operational security matters concerning the couple should be dealt with by the appropriate police authorities.
Any charitable work undertaken by the Sussexes would also be carried out independently rather than on behalf of the Royal Family.
Harry’s spokesperson later admitted the couple had been surprised by how the situation was handled.
“We were a little surprised to not have been told about this in advance,” the spokesperson said.
TalkTV Host Claims Sussexes Were Furious
Discussing the fallout on his Drive Time programme, TalkTV presenter Kevin O’Sullivan offered a highly critical interpretation of the Sussexes’ reaction.
He claimed Harry and Meghan had believed they might be able to regain some of their former royal privileges following their return to Britain.
O’Sullivan argued that Charles had instead drawn a clear line around their position, portraying the King’s message as effectively telling the couple they were free to live in Britain but could not present themselves as acting for the monarchy.
He then claimed: “Harry and Meghan have gone ballistic about it, haven’t they?”
The description was O’Sullivan’s characterisation of their reaction rather than an official statement from the Duke or Duchess.
His comments followed reports that the Sussexes had been caught off guard by the letter and wanted clarification on some of its wording.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield also joined the discussion and suggested the situation could have wider implications for Harry’s long-running security concerns.
Security Question Comes Back Into Focus
Schofield claimed that being formally described as “private citizens” could complicate Harry’s efforts to secure taxpayer-funded protection in Britain.
She suggested Harry may prefer to be recognised as a public figure for the purposes of security assessments carried out through the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, known as RAVEC.
However, no final decision on Harry and Meghan’s future security arrangements has been publicly confirmed.
The couple are currently facing fresh assessments following their move back to Britain, meaning the implications of the King’s letter remain the subject of debate rather than a settled outcome.
O’Sullivan went further during the discussion, accusing Harry and Meghan of believing they should have been given greater influence over the wording of the correspondence.
He said the couple appeared unhappy because they felt they should have been allowed to clarify what was included before it became public.
The presenter then delivered a particularly blunt response, asking: “Who the hell do they think they are?”
Again, those remarks reflected O’Sullivan’s own opinion rather than the Palace’s official position.
Tight Timeline Behind Royal Letter
Reports have also revealed how quickly the letter moved from the Sussexes’ office to the media.
It is understood that the correspondence was sent to Harry and Meghan’s team at 1.59pm on Monday, September 7.
Around 20 minutes later, their staff reportedly replied saying they wanted to “clarify one or two points”.
The letter was then shared with the media at 3.06pm, with Sussex aides informed of that development five minutes later.
Harry himself was reportedly in a meeting and could not be contacted until approximately 3.09pm.
That sequence is said to have contributed to frustration within the Sussex camp, particularly because the letter was made public before Harry had personally been able to respond.
Buckingham Palace, however, reportedly rejected suggestions that the correspondence contained anything requiring consultation with the couple.
When questioned about the issue, the Palace maintained there was “nothing controversial or new” in the letter.
The episode has nevertheless intensified scrutiny surrounding Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain.
Their new life in the UK is already bringing questions over security, public engagements and their relationship with the wider Royal Family back into focus.
And while O’Sullivan’s claim that the pair “went ballistic” remains his own description of events, the Sussexes’ acknowledged surprise over the letter shows that the latest royal clarification has done little to calm tensions.
