SAD NEWS: BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris reveals c@ncer is ‘taking more of a hold’ as shares heartbreaking health update
BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris has given fans a devastating health update on his c@ncer battle as he revealed the disease is “taking more of a hold.”
The 80-year-old was initially diagnosed with prostate c@ncer in 2007 and managed the disease with treatment before recent setbacks.

Bob officially announced he was stepping down from The Country Show on June 4 and later told how his c@ncer treatment was “going well.”
Now, the radio legend has given fans an emotional update on the “changes” to his diagnosis.
Bob shared two selfies from his hospital bed as he assured fans he’s trying to keep positive.
He said: “It has been a while since I last posted a health update and I want to let you know how I’m getting on, because there have been some changes with my c@ncer diagnosis.
“As regular followers will know, earlier this year I was forced to step back from BBC Radio 2 to concentrate on treatment and rest.
“I have been missing my programmes so much, but this space has given me a most beautiful summer here at home, enjoying a most precious commodity… TIME.“
Bob continued: “I feel very blessed to have been able to spend lovely moments with family and friends (some of which I’ve posted here on Instagram) in the glorious summer sunshine, but during this time my c@ncer has been getting more of a hold.
“I still feel well but I am now at the start of an intensive course of intravenous radiotherapy which we are confident will keep things at bay. I should know the outcome quite soon.”
“It is possible to live successfully with stage four prostate c@ncer (as demonstrated by the incredible Chris Hoy ) and Chris will know as well as anyone, it’s a very emotional roller coaster,” Bob admitted.
“But, as you know, I’m an extremely positive person, and I continue to be determined to continue to get the best out of everyday.”

Speaking directly to his fans going through a “difficult time”, he urged them to “never give in” and “fight with all your might to keep going.”
Bob added: “It isn’t always easy. I was in tears when I left the hospital with my son Miles on Friday…”
But, Bob is still looking towards the future as he revealed he will be on stage at his Stand By Me concert at the Royal Albert Hall on December 2.
In April, Bob revealed his c@ncer had spread when he shared a photo of himself walking with a stick on social media.
“When I posted last time from hospital, we were trying to find the reason for the excruciating pain I was feeling in my back.
“Several scans later, we discovered that my prostate c@ncer has got into my upper spine…really frightening news.
Bob was heartbroken over having to step down from his radio gig and broke his silence in a sad statement.
He said: “It’s incredible to think that my broadcasting career has spanned almost 56 years…
“Most of my time on air has been spent with my fabulous family at Radio 2 and it has been such a joy to broadcast on this world-class radio station.
“I want to say thank you to my listeners. I have put everything I have into every show I’ve ever done, and it’s all been because of you. Your love and loyalty mean more to me than words can ever say.
“I am so sorry that my health issues are forcing me to step down, but I realise that I must concentrate on getting myself well again.”
“This has been one of the hardest decisions of my life, but I would never want to be doing programmes knowing that I am unable to give you 100%,” he confessed.
